Dealing with sensitivity during whitening

Sometimes your teeth can become sensitive during teeth whitening and this guide will help you manage the sensitivity symptoms. Here are out top tips!

Tip One

Use the sensitivity pen provided in your kit. Paint the formula directly onto the teeth for instant relief!

Tip Two

Brush before, during and after treatment with sensitive toothpaste. This will help relieve sensitivity throughout treatment.

Tip Three

Apply sensitive toothpaste directly to the sensitive tooth! Squeeze a small amount of toothpaste onto a clean finger and rub directly onto the sensitive tooth. You’ll rub the toothpaste into the pores on the tooth and find instant relief!

Tip four

Wear your trays for shorter periods. Whiten for the same length of time as prescribed, for example 90 minutes, but split the wear time into multiple shorter periods. So, you could wear the trays for 2x 45 minute, or 3x 30-minute sessions. By making the sessions shorter and spreading the sessions across the day you might find you get less sensitivity.

Slow down your treatment. Instead of whitening daily for 3-weeks, whiten on alternate days over 6-weeks. This approach does take a lot longer, but you get a 24-hour break between each whitening session, and this can massively reduce sensitivity.

Avoid hot and cold foods. If you have sensitivity through whitening be careful with your choice of foods and drinks. Hot or cold foods can aggravate sensitivity. So stay away from ice cream and iced drinks, and allow hot foods and drinks to cool a little before digging in!
